Life on the Orchard

I'm on a roll today. We have been busy in the orchard.

First we had the crop to grow

Then we had to deal with the harvest

Then we had to get it pruned

Next came the removal of those big gums and poplars you can see in the background of this picture. But they had to be removed without destroying the shelter. A big job but the two guys who did it were great and did the job with minimal damage.

We got a few loads of logs out of it to help offset the cost. Not to mention firewood for next winter.

And now we are having all the end assemblies replaced. Note the skyline without the gums etc.

And the long and the short of all this is that there is no spare bucks for overseas travel but hopefully we will see an increase in production and the size of our fruit over the next couple of years. Fingers crossed anyway.

WOW, Thank you, Chris! That's amazing. Your account of managing the orchard in winter and the brilliant accompanying photo-log truly show your journalistic talent and skills. XXX

Thanks for the comment Sue but I'm not sure I'm that skilled.

We off on the bikes next weekend so will post after that.
